Nigeria’s Godwin Olofua has lauded his doubles partner, Anuoluwapo Juwon after winning gold at the Uganda International Championship.

Olofua expressed gratitude to God for winning his first gold medal in 2019.

He told www.aclsports.com that with their form, they can take on any opponent in the World.

He said, “I strongly believe that I and Anuoluwapo Juwon have what it takes to dominate at the All African Seniors Championship in April 2019 after our spectacular performance in Uganda. By the grace of God, we will not disappoint Nigerians.

“I feel excited and grateful to God for winning this Uganda International Tournament, because this marks my first Gold medal in the year 2019”.

The number two ranked player in Nigeria his aim in 2019 is to participate in more tournaments in order to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Olofua said, “My major arm in this year is to participate in more International Championships, gather more point and qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic.

“Currently I and Juwon are Africa number 1 in Doubles event and it is our hope to maintain the doubles ranking till the closing date of the Olympic qualifications which is 5th April 2020. We are going to Olympics by the Grace of God”.

Godwin Olofua is currently ranked number two in Nigeria behind Anuoluwapo Juwon.

He won silver medal in the doubles event at the 2017 Lagos Classic International Challenge, silver in the doubles event of the 2018 Zambia international and eventually won gold in the doubles event of the 2018 Cote d’Ivoire International.

Olofua won gold in the singles event at the 2018 National Sports Festival in Abuja, winning silver in the singles and bronze in the doubles at the 1st Rivers Gov’s National Badminton Championship.
