Nigeria U17 women’s team head coach Hakeem Busari says the Flamingos are ready to adapt to whatever Niger bring when the two teams meet at the 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup, www.aclsports.com reports.
“We are playing a team we have little information about, and we believe by the time we get to the field, situations will surely bring a solution. Strategy is going to be played by the time we see ourselves on the field of play. African women’s football has grown a lot, and everybody is improving,” Busari said.
He believes the competition will help the Flamingos identify areas to improve ahead of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
“We really need this to grow because we need competition. We won’t be able to have what we call development in terms of the game without competitions like this. By the time we finish, we’ll be able to see our areas of strength and areas of deficiency before the major tournament, which is the World Cup in Morocco. That will give us another opportunity to make improvements.”
Busari added that the Flamingos will keep their plans under wraps but are determined to win the competition and build on their performance.
“We don’t disclose our arsenal before a competition like this, but we have the World Cup preparation at hand. This is the kind of competition we really want to come and win. We want to come and show our class and really build on this for the bigger task ahead, which is the World Cup, and we are representing Africa.”
The match will take place on Wednesday at 3pm at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
