Nigeria U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, defeated hosts Benin Republic 1–0 to seal a perfect campaign and lift the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Girls’ Cup title at the Omnisport Stadium in Adjohoun, on Tuesday, www.aclsports.com reports.
A 16th-minute strike from Ramotalahi Kareem, her fourth goal of the tournament and the highest tally, proved enough for coach Moses Aduku’s side to secure victory.
Nigeria started the match strongly, dominating possession and creating the better chances. Their early pressure paid off when Kareem latched onto a long pass, beat her marker, and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to give the Falconets a deserved lead against the Benin side.
Nigeria could have extended their advantage, but they were unable to convert further opportunities. Benin pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but Nigeria’s defence held firm, with the Falconets showing composure and discipline to secure a narrow 1–0 victory.
The victory meant the Falconets finished the tournament unbeaten, winning all four matches, scoring 10 goals, and conceding just one, highlighting their dominance in the competition.
Midfielder Kafayat Oluwatosin Mafisere earned the Woman of the Match award for her standout performance, while Ghana’s midfielder Sarah Nyarko, with three goals and an assist, was named the tournament’s Best Player
