Nasarawa United head coach Mbwas Mangut has given credit to his players for their performance in the 1-0 win over former NPFL champions Enyimba in Lafia on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
In a tactical chess match that lived up to its top-notch billing, it was Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles invitee, Jofrank Joshua, who emerged as the hero, producing a moment of audacious brilliance in the 23rd minute of the first-half that ultimately separated both sides.
Speaking after the Solid Miners’ third consecutive league win, Mangut was pleased with the win despite his side’s failure to score more from the chances they created.
“Let me give credit to the boys for securing the maximum points. We should have scored more goals, but the three points are more important,” Mangut said in his post-match interview via Nasarawa United media.
“Thirteen points in five games is not a bad development. We are responding gradually, and suffice to say we are defending well and also attacking well – that’s five clean sheets in succession.
The former Plateau United handler thanked the state government for facilitating his coaching license course in Abuja, promising to use it to take the club to the next level.
“My experiences at the CAF A Licence Coaching Course in Abuja is wonderful, and whatsoever knowledge I acquired there will be poured out to Nasarawa United because the State Government through the Executive Governor, facilitated my participation for that course. I am so grateful to everyone who made it possible for me,” he concluded.
Nasarawa United have won four of their past five NPFL games and are now ranked third on the log based on inferior goal difference to Rangers and Rivers United.
The Solid Miners will be travelling to Kano to face Kano Pillars, a side they lost to home and away last season, in their next league outing on match day 11.
