Nigeria U17 side, the Golden Eaglets, defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 to win their third place match at the U17 WAFU-B tournament on Friday, www.acslports.com reports.

It's another third-place finish for the Golden Eaglets at WAFU B level, as they defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 in the game decided in Yamoussoukro this evening. Ahmed Yusuf, in his first start, grabbed a goal and was named MOTM at the end of the encounter.

Having failed to book their place in the final and next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, goals from Ahmed Yusuf and Famous Umole helped the Eaglets finish third in Cote d’Ivoire.

Head coach Manu Garba made just few changes to his squad with Ahmed Yusuf and Auwal Muhammad starting the third place match in Yamoussoukro.

Just like it played out in the meeting between the two teams during the group stage, it was quite a drab game with little chances here and there. Nigeria goalkeeper Edafe Great made a brilliant stop to keep the game goalless at the break.

After the restart, Ahmed Yusuf capitalized on a loose ball in the final third before firing low into the bottom corner to hand Nigeria the lead.

The Golden Eaglets continued to dominate, and in the final 20 minutes of the contest, they doubled their lead. Paul Ugwu, who has had a good tournament, played a lovely through ball onto the path of substitute Famous Umole, who calmly finished beyond the goalkeeper.

That was how it finished as the Golden Eaglets finished third once again in the regional age grade tournament.
