Nigeria senior women’s national team, D’Tigress made history on Tuesday by becoming the first African team to win two games in the group stage of the FIBA Women’s World Cup.

D’Tigress beat Argentina 75-70 to end their hope of qualifying to the next round.

Senegal would have been the first African side to achieve this feat if they had beaten China earlier in the day. But the Teranga Lionesses lost their third game 75-66 despite veteran player, Astou Traore scoring a game high 21 points.

Nigeria finished second in Group B behind Australia and will next face Greece who finished third in Group A in the quarter final qualification game on Wednesday.
