Three teams — Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, and Rivers Angels — confirmed their spots in the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season-ending Super Six competition after the conclusion of Matchday 11 fixtures on Wednesday, April 9.

Group A

In the biggest showdown of the week, Edo Queens edged Remo Stars Ladies 0-1 in a top-of-the-table Group A clash in Ikenne.

Kafayat Mafishere’s eighth minute free-kick proved to be the match winner for the defending champions who extended their unbeaten run in the league while snapping Remo’s 100% home record.

The win also guarantees Edo Queens’ passage into the Super Six championship playoffs.

Also in Group A, Nasarawa Amazons enjoyed the biggest margin of this Match Day with an emphatic 5-0 drubbing of Confluence Queens.

Youth international Janet Akekeromowei bagged a hat trick, while Aminat Bello and Josephine Matthias added one each in the landslide win.

Abia Angels edged Heartland Queens 1-0 in Aba, courtesy of a 27th-minute goal from Olajumoke Abina.

In Lagos, Dannaz Ladies and Ekiti Queens earned a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw, with Rashidat Salau and Augusta Chukwuma scoring within a minute of each other for either sides in a frantic first-half spell.

Group B

In Lagos, FC Robo Queens handed former champions Rivers Angels their first defeat of the season, running out 3-0 winners at the Onikan Stadium. Goals from Kemi Adegbuyi, Mariam Yahaya, and Opeyemi Ajakaye brought an end to the Port Harcourt side’s 10-game unbeaten streak. Despite the loss, Rivers Angels have secured qualification for the Super Six.

Group B leaders Bayelsa Queens also cemented their place in the Super Six, extending their unbeaten streak  with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Benue Queens. Harmony John and Alaba Obabiyi provided the goals for the Yenagoa-based outfit.

Elsewhere, Ibom Angels rallied from behind to beat Naija Ratels 2-1 in Uyo.

After Sofiat Bankole gave the visitors the lead, second-half strikes from Chioma Ashiegbu and Abigail Awak completed the comeback for the Orange Ladies.

Delta Queens returned to winning ways in Asaba, with Priscilla Omeje’s lone goal securing a narrow 1-0 win over Adamawa Queens.

With Naija Ratels’ loss at Ibom Angels, Rivers Angels clinched a Super Six spot thanks to a 10-point gap over fourth placed Ratels, an unassailable lead that cannot be overturned in three games.

Just as wins over Remo Stars and Ratels respectively guaranteed the Super Six qualifications of holders Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens.

Matchday 12 is scheduled for next Wednesday, with just three games left in the regular season as the race to join the Super Six and avoid finishing at the bottom rung of the ladder intensifies.
