A loss in the opening fixture of the 2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for both MFM FC and Kwara United FC set up a perfect clash between both teams at the Soccer Temple, Agege – Lagos on Wednesday.

After a lack-lustre performance in the first half, a tidy finish from Adebayo Waheed after Kwara United goalkeeper, Jonah Usman spilled a cross; ensured that the Lagos based team went home with all three points in a keenly contested encounter.

“I am very happy with the goal and I give glory to God,” Waheed Adebayo said on his match winning goal.

“The team can go far because the league has just started and we will also be playing on the continent. Personally, I can become the highest goalscorer in the league and I’m working towards it,” he added.

Assistant coach, Alli Suleiman Obinna also shared his view on the performance of the boys after a not too impressive game. “Three points is what is important,” he said; but “there are some new players who have been brought in to blend with the team and as time goes on, we are going to improve more than this.”

MFM FC will now travel to El Kanemi Warriors while Kwara United face Ifeanyi Ubah FC on Matchday three of the NPFL.
