Barau Football Club of Kano have confirmed the arrival of 14 new players ahead of the 2026/27 NPFL season, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Maliya Boys, having confirmed the retained list of players ahead of the new campaign, have now revealed some of the additions to the squad, as they hope to perform better than their maiden campaign in the elite division.

In a video released on the club’s official YouTube page, the club welcomed players from notable NPFL clubs, as well as some from the second division, the Nigeria National League (NNL). As also seen in the clip, the players stressed that the club is gunning for the league title or a place on the continent in the coming campaign.

Midfielder Ahmadu Liman (from Niger Tornadoes) and Kumaga Suur (Lobi Stars) reunite with head coach Eugene Agagbe, whom they previously worked with at Lobi Stars. Stephen Wisdom and Kennedy Etunuya Energy both arrived from relegated Bayelsa United, as well as Nasiru Jibrin from Wikki Tourists.

Young forward Boluwatife Ajina and goalkeeper Adamu Abubakar have joined the Maliya Boys from ABS and Gombe United, respectively. Others include Idris Saidu from Niger Tornadoes, Adekunle Oluwasegun from Nasarawa United, Casmir Azubuike from Abia Warriors, Anthony Omaka from Rivers United and Elvis Obukowho from Warri Wolves.

Then two players – Alameen Umar and Christian Maduka – have also joined the Kano side after returning from Egypt and Albania respectively.

After an impressive eighth-place finish in their debut topflight campaign, Barau will set their sights on an even stronger outing when the 2026/27 NPFL season kicks off on the weekend of August 28–30.
