NWFL Premiership champions Edo Queens have accepted CAF decision and set their sights on completing the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifying final against Ampem Darkoa Ladies in Cairo, www.aclsports.com reports.
The club confirmed its position in a statement on Thursday, October 22, following CAF’s Appeal Board decision to uphold the annulment of its penalty shoot-out victory.
Scheduled for October 29 in Cairo, Egypt, the match will resume from the start of extra time, with two 15-minute periods to be played after the teams drew 2-2 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on September 5.
Following consultations with its board, the Edo State Government and the NFF, the club said it had accepted the decision in the interest of sporting fairness, insisting the contest should be settled on the pitch.
“Our mission remains unchanged: to fight, to win and to secure our place in the CAF Women’s Champions League,” the statement read.
Edo Queens also confirmed that the team would depart for Cairo on Monday, October 26, ahead of the rescheduled fixture.
The 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League runs from November 1 to 15 in Egypt. The winner of the WAFU-B final will join Group B alongside USFAS Bamako, AS FAR and Kawempe Muslim Ladies, while Group A features Mamelodi Sundowns, FC Masar, FUS Rabat and Lekie Football Girls.
CAF also unveiled a new trophy and brand identity for the competition on October 20, ahead of the tournament in Cairo.
