In the previous ranking released mid-September, the Eagles were ranked 29th but have now lost three places after poor outings in their first international break since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic,  COVID-19.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles took on their African counterparts, Algeria and Tunisia in friendlies earlier this month in Austria, with the Eagles losing 0-1 to Algeria before a 1-1 draw with Tunisia four days later.
