Nigeria’s weightlifter Islamiyat Adebukola Yusuf won the country’s fifth gold medal in the women’s 69kg Snatch at the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, www.aclsports.com reports.

The tournament, which runs from 7 to 21 November in Saudi Arabia, saw 22-year-old Islamiyat Adebukola Yusuf lift 110kg to claim top honours in the women’s 69kg Snatch, outlifting Bahrain’s Ingrid Grueso, who took silver with 106kg, and Turkey’s Nuray Gungor, who earned bronze with 105kg, adding to Nigeria’s four gold medals from earlier in the Games.

In boxing, Zainab Motunrayo Adeshina secured a silver medal for Nigeria in the women’s 51kg category. She faced Turkey’s Rabia Topuz in the final and was stopped by the referee in the third round (RSC), while Uzbekistan’s Zilolakhon Yusufova and Algeria’s Mansouri Fatiha shared the bronze. These results leave Nigeria in ninth place on the boxing medal table in Riyadh.
