Sporting Lagos were too strong for Inter Lagos as they claimed the bragging rights with a 3-0 win in the Lagos derby played on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Tech Boys came into the contest without a goal and a win upon their return to the top flight, but they dispatched their City rivals to claim maximum points at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
Defender Sodiq Ayoade headed Sporting, who were on the road in this fixture, in front after just seven minutes, and minutes later Inter had the chance to level from the spot. However, the effort came off the woodwork.
Sporting upped the ante just before the hour mark; striker Aliyu Baba doubled their lead after a fine ball from Victor Samuel. In stoppage time, Valentine Ugwu added icing on the cake in stoppage time to complete the job.
In the other games on the day, Barau left it late to beat Ranchers Bees 3-1 in Kano. Ahmadu Liman opened the scoring for the Maliya boys before Mohammed Zulkifilu equalized for the visitors. However, Kennedy Otunuya and Sugau Aliyu scored in stoppage time to see out another home win for the hosts.
It was a six-goal thriller in Benin as Bendel Insurance defeated Kun Khalifat 4-2 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. Alex Oweilayefa, Suraj Lawal and Chinedu Nwosu (brace) scored for Insurance, while Uchecukwu Onuoha and Oghenetaga Ebetomame scored for the visitors.
The goals also came aplenty in Aba between Abia Warriors and Ikorodu City as it finished 2-2 at the Enyimba Stadium. Emeka Obioma scored the opener for the home side before IKC scored twice through Ikechukwu Junior and Akorode Adeoye. Seven minutes from time, Obioma completed his brace to rescue a point for his side.
