The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports have given notice for the termination of the sponsorship/marketing agreement with Messrs. Greenfield Assets Limited in respect of the National Sports Festival due to unsatisfactory performance.
The development was part of the resolution made at the 2nd joint technical meeting of the 2020 National Sports Festival held at the multipurpose hall, prestige hotel and suites, Benin City, Edo state.
In a statement signed by the Chairman Main Organising Committee, Olusade Adesola noted that the launching of the marketing drive for the Festival would take place in Lagos on January 14, 2020.
Adesola who doubles as the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development revealed that the marketing strategy and sponsorship roadmap outlined by the LOC to drive the funding for the Festival.
The statement read, “The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development have given notice for the termination of the sponsorship/marketing agreement with Messrs. Greenfield Assets Limited in respect of the National Sports Festival due to unsatisfactory performance on some critical terms of the provisions of the agreement by the firm”.
It further read, “The marketing strategy and sponsorship road map outlined by the LOC to drive the funding for the Festival and that the launching of the marketing drive for the Festival would take place in Lagos on January 14, 2020 while a Road Show would kick start in Abuja afterwards, and called for the support of members”.
Part of the resolution made was the approval of Canoeing, Golf as well as Abula, Dambe, Langa and Kokowa in Traditional Sports, as Sports that would feature and score at the 20th National Sports Festival.
It read, “Approved the temporary deferral of Rule 11 (i) – (iii) of the National Sports Festival General Rules and Regulation (2019) to accommodate the inclusion of the following sports with minimal events; Canoeing, Golf as well as Abula, Dambe, Langa and Kokowa in Traditional Sports, as Sports that would feature and score at the 20th National Sports Festival.
The communique commended the commitment of Edo State towards delivering a successful National Sports Festival, especially the extent of works that have gone into the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium.
It noted the report on the Inspection of the Venues and Facilities of the 2nd Joint Technical Meeting and urged Edo State to use the Report as checklist to guide the State in her final preparations for the Festival.
