Rangers Internationl Women will play in the 2026/2027 NWFL Premiership, General Manager Amobi Ezeaku confirms, www.aclsports.com reports.
Ezeaku made the disclosure during a press briefing in Enugu on Wednesday, revealing that Rangers have acquired the league slot of Dannaz Ladies of Lagos, with about 80 per cent of the discussions surrounding the deal already concluded.
He said open screening for players interested in joining the women’s team will soon begin ahead of the new season, while Coach Favour Anieke will continue to lead the side after previously taking charge during the championship, although she could not guide the team to qualification.
Ezeaku assured that the women’s team would enjoy the same level of attention, support and recognition given to the Rangers men’s team, stressing that the ambition is to build a strong and competitive side.
He further disclosed that the Awka City Stadium in Awka, Anambra State, remains an option for the team’s home matches, but maintained that Rangers’ preference is for the women to play at the same venues as the men wherever possible.
Ezeaku added that plans are also in place to fully integrate the women’s team into the Rangers structure once the renovation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, popularly known as the Cathedral, is completed.
