Swedish side IFK Göteborg have announced the signing of talented Nigerian youngster Ifeoluwa Olowoporoku from Tripple 44 Football Academy, www.aclsports.com reports.
Olowoporoku, who turned 18 today, has signed a three-year contract with the Allsvenskan club.
The youngster, who is also a former Nigeria U17 international, has been on site at Kamratgården for several rounds, but has now completed a move to Sweden and Blåvitt permanently.
”A young and developable player who we see being able to compete in the A-team in the long term. We see this signing in the longer term and not as a player who will make an impact already this year. It is a young and developable player that we, along with our coaches and other tools, will work a lot with,” said Jesper Jansson, football director.
On his part, the club’s scouting manager, David Vukovic, spoke highly of the boy’s talent and the plan to support his development in Sweden.
”He is a small but very intense central midfielder who can play both higher up and further down the midfield. We have seen him up close in the field and got to know him in our environment, where we have seen both his strengths and what he needs to develop. We work both long-term and short-term in our squad planning to balance the results here and now, while we want to create space for that type of player as well as players from our own academy.”
Ibadan-based Tripple 44 Football Academy has previously produced the likes of Prince Amos (Norby IF), Ozor Okeke (IF Elfsborg), Adam Mustapha (Shooting Stars), Ibrahim Adewale ( Mjällby), Emmanuel Godwin (Pardubice), and Abel Ogwuche & Emmanuel Godwin (Trelleborgs).
Olowoporoku will be part of IFK Göteborg’s first team and will both train and play matches with them, the U19 and U21.
