In-form Nigerian youngster Ibrahim Adewale is set to join Swedish Allsvenskan champions Mjällby from his Ettan Norra side, IF Karlstad, after an agreement was reached between both parties, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Tripple 44 Football Academy graduate, who moved to Sweden earlier in the year, hit the ground running, as he scored 13 goals and made four assists in 29 appearances for the third division club.
Adewale, who was excellent last year and wore the Academy’s captain armband while in Nigeria, finished as the team’s top scorer in 2024 with 20 goals, and his performances in the lower tier of Sweden have now taken him to the top of Swedish football.
Mjällby won against IFK Norrköping 2-1 last Sunday to become league champions for the first time, and they also broke the points record in the Allsvenskan. The club from the small remote fishing village will now play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
As for Adewale’s move, all documents have been signed, and medicals have been completed earlier in the week. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, his move will be officially confirmed in the new week, ending interest from other teams like Sirius, AIK, IFK Norrköping, and Östers IF. The forward has signed a five-year deal with Mjällby.
Ibadan-based Tripple 44 Football Academy has previously produced the likes of Prince Amos (Norby IF), Ozor Okeke (IF Elfsborg), Adam Mustapha (Shooting Stars), Ifeoluwa Olowoporoku (IFK Göteborg), and Abel Ogwuche & Emmanuel Godwin (Trelleborgs).
