Nigeria Junior Female YellowGreens have reached the final of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 1 after a nine-wicket victory over Rwanda on Thursday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Rwanda won the toss and elected to bat first, but Nigeria’s bowlers quickly took control, bowling them out for 65 in 19.1 overs at the Estim, TCA Cricket Arena in Tanzania.

Christabel Chukwuonye, the Nigerian all-rounder, claimed four wickets for 17 runs to help dismantle Rwanda’s batting line-up. Peace Usen also impressed, taking two wickets for seven runs from her four overs, while Praise Onaighise and Jennifer Godwin picked up two wickets apiece.

Rwanda struggled to build partnerships throughout their innings. Thania Uwase Niyorukundo top-scored with 20 runs, while Deborah Uwase and Ruth Uwimana added 11 runs each.

Nigeria needed just 66 runs to win and made short work of the target. The Junior Female YellowGreens reached 66 for 1 in 10.4 overs, sealing a comfortable nine-wicket victory. Omosigho Eguakun led the successful chase with an unbeaten 35 runs, while Shola Adekunle finished not out on 26. Beauty Oguai was the only Nigerian batter dismissed, scoring two runs.

Chukwuonye was named Player of the Match as Nigeria head into the final unbeaten, having won all four of their matches in the qualifier.
