Argentina’s hope of qualifying for the 2018 world cup has been dealt a major blow following an injury to defensive midfielder, Fernando Gago.

Gago was forced off ten minutes after coming on as substitute, as Argentina were held to a goalless draw at home by Peru.

The former Real Madrid player, who was making his first appearance for the Albiceleste since another serious injury in 2015, was replaced by Enzo Perez.

Argentina are in danger of missing out of the 2018 World cup, after their latest setback sees them sixth on the table on 25points, a point behind Chile and Colombia, who are third and fourth respectively.
