Nigeria U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, will face Guinea in the second round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Flamingos, Africa’s top-ranked side at this stage, will begin their qualification campaign against Guinea, with the first leg scheduled for May 22–24 and the return leg set for May 29–31.

Guinea booked their place in the second round after a commanding 8–2 aggregate victory over Niger Republic. They won the first leg 5–2 away before sealing qualification with a 3–0 home win in the return leg.

The winner of the tie will advance to the final qualifying round, scheduled for July 3–5 and July 10–12, where Africa’s representatives for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco (October 17 – November 7) will be decided.

The 2022 bronze medallists have featured in eight of the nine editions since their debut in 2008, missing only the 2018 tournament.

Under new head coach Akeem Busari, the Flamingos have resumed preparations in Abuja, with invited players already in camp ahead of their crucial two-legged tie against Guinea.
