Rivers Hoopers ended Maktown Flyers unbeaten run on Game Day 6 of the 2026 Nigeria Premier Basketball League Final 8 playoffs, www.aclsports.com reports.
Hosts Rivers Hoopers maintained their perfect record with a 79–70 victory over defending champions Maktown Flyers, ending their unbeaten run in the process. Peter Olisiemeka was named Player of the Game after posting 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
Aso Skyhawks became the first team to score 100 points at the Final 8 after beating 313 Warriors 100–79. Paul Dibal and Chinedu Chinbuo led the Skyhawks with 20 points each, with Dibal also recording four rebounds and three steals, while Chinbuo finished with two rebounds and three steals.
Hoops & Read recorded their first win of the playoffs, overcoming winless Lagos Raptors 64–60. Francis Anekwe led the way with 20 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals, while Oparaugu Okechukwu added 18 points, three rebounds and five steals. The result leaves Lagos Raptors still searching for their first win.
Gboko City Chiefs returned to winning ways with an 87–72 victory over Kano Pillars. Marcus Thomas produced an all-round performance with 15 points, eight rebounds and 13 assists, while Bright Akhuetie added 14 points and eight rebounds. Dike Azouma contributed 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Ahead of the final day, Rivers Hoopers and Maktown Flyers have booked their spots in the Final 4, while Gboko City Chiefs, Aso Skyhawks and 313 Warriors remain in contention for the last two places. Hoops & Read, Kano Pillars and Lagos Raptors are out of contention.
