Kennedy Boboye says “It’s going to be a tough one, but the most important thing is for us to win because we want to come here and lift the trophy. The players themselves know that they want to play in the major tournament, which is the CAF Champions League. So they will definitely want to play to win tomorrow.”
The Edo Queens interim coach was speaking ahead of the final match against Ampem Darkoa Ladies on Saturday.
Edo Queens suffered their only defeat of the tournament against Ampem Darkoa in their final Group B game, but Boboye believes his players have learnt from that result.
“We never really wanted to lose that game in the group stage to the Ghanaian team, and it’s a painful one for us. But tomorrow, we don’t want that kind of mistake to happen to us again. I think we’ll rectify all our mistakes to make sure we come out smoking and win tomorrow’s game.”
Ampem Darkoa midfielder Priscilla Okyere, meanwhile, insists the Ghanaian side will not be complacent despite their earlier victory over Edo Queens.
“Beating them in the group stage doesn’t mean that we are happy or relaxed. Tomorrow is the final game, and we are well prepared. We’ve been training and planning for it. We are not going to relax or put it in our heads that we beat them in the group stage,” she said.
