Nigeria U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, will depart for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on Wednesday morning ahead of their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying match against Guinea, www.aclsports.com reports.

The first-leg encounter is scheduled for Saturday, 23 May, in the second round of the qualification series, with the return leg set for 31 May at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State.

As part of their build-up, the Flamingos have been in camp for close to a month, beginning preparations in Abuja before relocating to Ikenne, where training has focused on tactical organisation, fitness conditioning, and squad assessment.

The technical crew, led by Busari, has also worked extensively on pressing structure, off-the-ball movement, transitional play, and finishing drills, with competition for places still high across the squad.

During camp, the Flamingos featured in a series of friendly matches, recording victories over Generation Next, Nazareth Queens, Solo Wonder Babes, Lakeside Queens FA, and YAFA U-15, while playing out a draw against Real Rising Stars SC.

The trip to Côte d’Ivoire marks the final phase of preparations as the 2022 bronze medallists aim to secure a strong first-leg result against Guinea, with qualification for the next round and a place at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco still the target.
