African champions Nigeria’s D’Tigress will open their FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 campaign on 4 September against Korea Republic, with the official tournament schedule now confirmed, www.aclsports.com reports.

The competition will take place in Berlin, Germany, from 4 to 13 September 2026, with the group phase scheduled for 4 to 7 September before the knockout rounds begin.

D’Tigress will face Korea Republic in their opening Group B fixture on the first day of competition, tipping off at 1:30pm (WAT) at Berlin Arena. They will then take on Hungary on 5 September at 1:15pm at Max-Schmeling-Halle before concluding their group campaign against France on 7 September at 1:30pm at Berlin Arena.

Elsewhere, action in Berlin begins with simultaneous fixtures as Japan face Mali in Group A and Australia play Puerto Rico in Group C. Defending champions the United States open their title defence in Group D against China, while hosts Germany are also in action in Group A on the opening day.

Across the tournament, teams will navigate a compact group stage before progressing to qualification matches for the quarter-finals on 8 and 9 September, followed by the last eight on 10 September. The semi-finals are scheduled for 12 September, with the third-place play-off and final set for 13 September, bringing the competition to a close in Berlin.

D’Tigress face a tight schedule with minimal recovery time between games in a highly competitive Group B campaign. They will be looking to go one better than their 2018 World Cup campaign, where they reached the quarter-finals.
