Nigeria national U17 team; the Golden Eaglets on Monday morning wrapped up their preparations for the 2019 FIFA Under 17 World Cup with a narrow 0-1 loss to Japan.

The Nigerian lads played their third friendly game since landing in the South American nation, Brazil against Asian champions Japan and lost to a 22nd minute strike by Wakatsuki Yamako.

The Eaglets tried to claw their way back into the game with an equaliser, but the tactical discipline of Japan and their resolute play in the defence frustrated the efforts of Eaglets’ attacking trio of Olakunle Olusegun, Wisdom Ubani and Ibrahim Jabeer in the game.

The game was played at the Sao Paulo FC ground in Coita.

The Manu Garba led Golden Eaglets are scheduled to leave Coita this midweek for Goiania, venue of their group games in Brazil, starting from their opening game on Saturday.

While in Brazil, Nigeria have now played three games, losing two and winning one; starting with a loss to Sao Paulo FC before a 4-2 win over South Korea.

The 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup will kick off on Saturday, October 26, 2019 with five times champions Nigeria facing Hungary at the Olympic Stadium in Goiania.
