NWFL champions Edo Queens lost 3-2 to Ampem Darkoa Ladies after extra time in the replay of their 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifying final in Cairo on Thursday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Mohammed Afishata struck in the 92nd minute to secure the title for the Ghanaian side and book their place in the continental competition.

Edo Queens made two changes to the team that finished regulation time in Ouagadougou, with Kafayat Mafisere and Mary Mamudu replacing Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Oluebube Umejiaku, who were away on national duty. However, the Nigerian champions were unable to find the equaliser they needed to keep their qualification hopes alive.

The match resumed following an appeal by Ampem Darkoa against the outcome of their September 5 meeting in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, where Edo Queens won on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time. CAF upheld the appeal and ruled that play should continue from the beginning of extra time.

Ampem Darkoa, who last featured in the continental tournament in 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire, will compete in Group B alongside Morocco’s AS FAR, USFAS Bamako of Mali and Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies. Edo Queens, who reached the semi-finals on their debut in 2024, will miss out on this year’s competition after losing the WAFU-B final.

The 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League will take place in Egypt from November 1 to 15.
