It was a goal-filled weekend for the Super Falcons stars across their respective leagues as Asisat Oshoala, Anam Imo, Desire Oparanozie and Ngozi Okobi were all on target for their respective club sides.

Ngozi Okobi netted the winner for Eskilstuna United as they beat Umea 1-0 in their Swedish Women’s Cup opener on Saturday. The Super Falcons midfield maestro started as begun the new season the best way possible as her effort steered her side to a winning start in the Swedish Women’s Cup.

Okobi alongside her compatriot Halimatu Ayinde played the entire duration of the game and were both instrumental in helping their side pick all three points ahead of their next match.

Anam Imo followed suit in superb fashion also in the Swedish Women’s Cup as she helped Rosengard secure a convincing 5-0 win over Vasteras BK in Saturday’s game.

The Super Falcons forward opened her account in the first game of the year to increase her team’s tally to three goals against Vasteras BK at the weekend.

In Spain, Asisat Oshoala scored a second half hat-trick for Barcelona Femeni and also added an assist as the league leaders recorded a 6-0 win over Logrono in the Spanish Primera Iberdrola.

It all began in the 33rd minute when Marta Torrejon opened the scoring. Oshoala then set up Alexia Putellas to double the lead a minute later.

In the second half, it was all about the Super Falcons striker who extended the lead to four goals in the 54th minute and earned her brace 16 minutes later to make it five goals for the Super Cup champions.

With a minute of regulation time left, Oshoala grabbed a third and Barcelona’s sixth to complete her second hat-trick of the season.

This weekend’s hat-trick means that the Super Falcons forward is now level with her team mate and highest goalscorer Jenni Hermoso with 20 league goals in the race for the Pichichi.

In France, it was mixed fortunes for Desire Oparanozie who was on target for Guingamp but couldn’t secure a win as her team lost 4-1 at home to PSG.

Oparanozie has now scored six goals in 12 games for Guingamp this season.

Uchenna Kanu was also in action for Sevilla who won by a lone goal against Espanyol away from home.

The Super Falcons striker was on the pitch for 65 minutes during which she tested the Espanyol goalkeeper on a number of occasions but couldn’t find the back of the net.

The free scoring forward will have to wait till the next Matchday as she hopes to open her account for Sevilla in the Primera Iberdrola.

Rita Chikwelu was also in action for Madrid CFF as they lost by a lone goal in the last 15 minds of the game, to reigning champions, Atletico Madrid.

The Super Falcons midfielder played the entire duration of the game as her side battle for survival.

In Portugal, Uchendu Chinaza was a part of the SC Braga team which defeated CF Benfica 6-0 away from home.

A resounding victory for Uchendu and her team mates away from home as the team continues in a good run of form which leaves them eight points from the top.
