Stoke City believe they are the team to stop Manchester United’s impressive start to the new season, according to their goalkeeper, Jack Butland.

United have started the new season in style, raking up three wins in three; scoring ten goals and conceding none.

However, with a visit to Bet365 stadium on the cards this weekend for the Red Devils, who would be hoping to continue their unbeaten run, Stoke’s goalkeeper, Butland believes it’s time a team stopped them, and says Stoke can.

“We have had some joy against them in the past,” Butland told talkSports. “So, hopefully we can replicate similar form and get something off them on the weekend.

“Someone has got to stop them, and hopefully we can be that side that do that.

“We will have to have a similar approach to what we had against Arsenal – make sure we are really solid at the back, as a unit defend really well, and see what we can pick up on the counter-attack and going the other way.

“We certainly feel strong with the way we are playing and the way we are defending and hopefully we can take something from the game.”

Manchester United are unbeaten this 2017/18 season

The England international, who just returned from a long layoff due to an injury, also expressed optimism that his club will be a success this season.

“I don’t think we ever thought we were going to struggle,” he added.

“We lost a few big characters and credit to the management and club – we have brought in some big characters and some really good quality as well.

“We felt unfortunate to lose on the first day of the season and we bounced back with a great win against Arsenal and a good away point against West Brom.

“So, I feel like we are in a really good place and the players we have got are very exciting. We are looking forward to seeing what we can do this year.”
