Nigeria national Men’s basketball team, D’Tigers have lost to their counterparts from Australia once again, after their opening day defeat at the Tokyo2020 Olympics, ACLSports reports.

D’Tigers were defeated 84-67 by the Aussies on Sunday morning during their first game at the Tokyo2020 Olympics.

The win was Australia’s second over the D’Tigers in a matter of weeks, after that humiliation in the exhibition game played as part of the team’s Tokyo2020 Olympics preparation and third overall.

Despite a good start that ensured they were in the game after the first half, a bizarre capitulation saw the Boomers run away with a 17-point lead.

The Nigerian representatives struggled throughout the game to make their throws, scoring just 12 of 22 from free throws, managing 17 of 31 attempts from 2 pointers and 7 of 22 from three-pointers.

Obi Emenago scored a team-high 12 points, Josh Okogie added 11 points and 2 rebounds, while Patty Mills of Australia was the most outstanding g player of the game with 25 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds for the Semi-Finalists from the last Olympics and the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.

Meanwhile, in the other group B match, Italy overcame a slow start to beat Germany 92-82, inspired by Simone Fontecchio, who had a team-high 20 points and 4 rebounds.

Maodo Lo of Germany scored a game-high of 24 points, with 4 rebounds.

Up next, D’Tigers face Germany at 10 am Nigerian time while Australia and Italy battle it out in the other game.
