Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has vowed that his side will keep fighting for one of the continental tickets despite a recent slump in form, www.aclsports.com reports.

🚨 3SC still chasing continental dreams!

Despite a 7-game winless streak & a 0-2 loss to Akwa Utd, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote remains optimistic:

The Oluyole Warriors lost 2-0 to Akwa United in their match day 29 encounter played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday. An Ayodeji Bamidele own goal and another strike from Uche Sebastine handed the Ibadan side a second successive league defeat.

The latest result left Shooting Stars winless in their past seven league games (D3 L4) and two points off the final continental spot. Despite this terrible form, Ogunbote believes his side can turn things around.

“We have nine matches to decide that, we have gone seven games without a win, it could be any other team, so when we will pick up, maybe some other teams will fizzle out too. We will give it a fight until the end,” the experienced tactician stated.

On Sunday’s defeat to Akwa United, Ogunbote described it as unfortunate, blaming it on the careless moments in the second half of the encounter.

“We did everything humanly possible but we were careless at some moments. This wasn’t a true reflection of the game. But we lost, that’s the summary of it all.

“All we need to do is to go back and see where we got it wrong and get back to winning ways”, added the Shooting Stars’ tactician.

Shooting Stars will now turn their attentions to the President Federation Cup round of 64 game against Zamfara United on Wednesday in Abuja, before they host Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday in Ibadan.
