Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has described his side’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Kwara United as a temporary setback, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Oluyole Warriors, who are second on the log, saw their 8-game unbeaten run ended by the Harmony Boys at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl in Ilorin on Wednesday.
In the rescheduled match day 20 clash, Ojifinni Abdullahi assisted skipper Kabir Muhammad for the game’s opening goal before adding a second in the second half to lead the hosts to their sixth consecutive home win.
Speaking after the match, Ogunbote, who admitted that it was an off day for his boys, believes they have learnt a few things from the loss.
“This is just a temporary setback,” Ogunbote stated after the game.
“We need to pick our pieces and take the positives from it. You see sometimes, when you do not manage success, you pay a price and sometimes, when you taste defeat and you are able to realise why you were defeated, you can bounce back.
“All we need to do is to bounce back by picking up our pieces and make necessary corrections and move on,” concluded Ogunbote – who added that Kwara United desired to win the match.
Shooting Stars will now travel to Owerri to face Heartland on match day 24 of the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League season, while Kwara United will host Bayelsa United in Ilorin.
