Rangers International forward Pascal Seka has been handed a three-match ban in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) following his red card in the Flying Antelopes’ 1-2 loss to Bendel Insurance in Benin last Thursday.
Seka had embarked on a goalscoring run of five goals in six league matches as Rangers extended their unbeaten sequence to thirteen games but both runs suffered an anti-climax at the UNIBEN Sports Complex no thanks to Seka’s 21st minute red card.
The Ivorian has now been banned for the next three league games according to Section C Rule 3 of the NPFL Rules and Framework.
Seka will miss Rangers’ games against Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Thursday in their last outstanding game and the much anticipated Oriental Derby against Enyimba in Aba on Sunday.
The 25-year old forward will complete his suspension next midweek when Gbenga Ogunbote’s Rangers host Kwara United in their Match Day 18 encounter at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu.
It is the first time that Seka will be sent off in the NPFL in his four seasons at Nigeria’s elite division. He spent three fruitful years at FC Ifeanyiubah before joining Rangers at the start of the current campaign.
Rangers remain top of Group A in the 2018/19 abridged NPFL season with 31 points from 15 matches, six clear of nearest challengers Enyimba with six matches of the regular season left.
