Nigeria forward Ibrahim Adewale came off the bench to rescue a point for his side, Norrby IF, in their 2-2 draw against Östersunds FK on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The 19-year-old, who recently arrived from Mjällby AIF on a season-long loan, was introduced just after the hour mark to score his first league goal in the colours of the Superettan club.
Norrby started the day just outside the relegation zone, needing a point at least to move up after their match day 16 clash with the promotion-chasing visitors.
Former Gombe United striker Yusf Abdulazeez gave them the best possible start with a fine finish in the fourth minute of the game. However, the visitors rallied back with two goals from Mario Palomino in the second half to be fifteen minutes away from a win on the road.
Adewale, who came on for Julius Johansson in the 67th minute, combined with his fellow countryman Yusuf to drag his side level in the 86th minute. In the end, the home side stood resolute to fight off foray of attacks from the visitors to take a point.
It was Adewale’s first goal for the club in just two substitute appearances. Consequently, he was named the man of the match despite playing just 23 minutes.
With the draw, Norrby made it three home games without a defeat, and the result also placed them in 12th spot – just one point above the bottom four.
