The Ghana Football Association (GFA) have announced that Ghana have secured the rights to host the 2027 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations, www.aclsports.com reports.
GFA made the announcement in a statement on its X handle on Monday, stating that CAF has sent a confirmation letter to the association’s secretariat.
“CAF’s strong confidence in the Ghana Football Association’s ability to organise and deliver a tournament that meets the highest standards of youth football on the continent,” reads a statement from the GFA.
“This collaboration is expected to focus on infrastructure readiness, logistics, security, and overall fan experience, all aimed at delivering a world-class event worthy of Africa’s growing football stature.
“Beyond the excitement of hosting, the tournament represents a broader endorsement of Ghana’s reputation as one of Africa’s premier football hubs,” the statement concluded.
The CAF U-20 AFCON is a key development platform for young players across the continent, and next year’s edition is expexted to produce talents that will go on to make names for themselves in African football and the world at large.
Ghana last hosted the competition in 1999, when the Black Satellites won the title on home soil. The 2027 edition will coincide with Ghana’s 70th Independence anniversary.
