Nigerian duo, Regina Otu and Flourish Sabastine, have lifted their first league titles after Fenerbahçe Women were crowned champions of the Turkcell Women’s Football Super League, sealing the triumph with an emphatic 8–0 win over Ünye Women’s Sports Club, www.aclsports.com reports.
Fenerbahçe had already confirmed the title on matchday 28 with a dominant 7–0 victory over Giresun Sanayispor, before officially lifting the trophy in front of their home fans at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex. The triumph also marked a historic milestone, as it was the club’s first-ever women’s league title.
Both Nigerian players, who were instrumental in the campaign, started the match against Ünye. Otu controlled midfield with her composure and energy, while teenage forward Sabastine impressed again with a lively attacking display.
The champions put on a ruthless performance, with Busem Şeker opening the scoring in the 28th minute, followed by Maria Alves four minutes later to give Fenerbahçe a comfortable half-time lead. The goals continued after the break, with İpek Kaya, Andrea Staskova, Yağmur Uraz, Cansu Gürel, and Şeker all adding to the scoreline.
Fenerbahçe enjoyed a dominant season, finishing with 26 wins, two draws, and just one defeat in 29 matches. They scored 131 goals and conceded only eight, and will round off their campaign with their final fixture against Fatih Vatan Spor.
The title also secures qualification for next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League, giving Otu and Sabastine a chance to cap their breakthrough season with European football.
