Edo Queens have formally petitioned CAF, seeking to annul the continuation of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifying final against Ampem Darkoa Ladies, www.aclsports.com reports.
In a statement released on October 29, 2026, the NWFL champions challenged the circumstances surrounding the resumption of the final, originally played in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on September 5.
The match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, with Edo Queens winning 4-1 on penalties. CAF later ordered the final to resume from extra time, where the Nigerian side suffered defeat.
The club raised three main concerns in its petition: the change of venue, player eligibility and inadequate official communication. It alleged that the match was moved to Cairo, Egypt, without the required confirmation from WAFU Zone B. Edo Queens also claimed they were prevented from fielding eligible players who featured in the original match and questioned the accommodation arrangements, alleging that their delegation was housed in a military base rather than a conventional team hotel.
The club further alleged that it did not receive clear and timely information about the venue, kick-off time and match arrangements, which it said affected its preparations.
Edo Queens have asked CAF to suspend confirmation of the WAFU-B qualification place pending a decision on the petition and declare the October 29 continuation null and void. They have also requested relevant venue confirmation, match sheets, substitution records, player eligibility lists and disciplinary records from WAFU Zone B.
Alternatively, the club wants a full 90-minute replay at the original venue, under properly regulated conditions and with eligible players. If this cannot be completed before the CAF Women’s Champions League begins on November 1, 2026, Edo Queens have asked to be declared WAFU-B champions.
