South African side Chippa United have confirmed the return of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali to the club ahead of the 2026/27 football season, www.aclsports.com reports.
Nwabali, 30, had a wonderful tournament with Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the last AFCON before he decided to leave the club in February. The club then granted Nwabali’s transfer request, but he has been without a club since.
However, the Chilli Boys managed to retain their topflight status for the new campaign, and they have now confirmed the return of the former Enyimba goalkeeper to their fold.
”Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back to the Chilli Boys. After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club,” the club said in a short statement on their X handle on Sunday.
Nwabali, who was part of the Super Eagles side that finished second at the AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, moved to South Africa in 2022, where he went on to make over 75 appearances for his club, keeping 25 clean sheets. He is now set for a second stint with the Chilli Boys.
