Edo Queens clinched the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership title after a goalless draw with Bayelsa Queens on the final day of the Super Six at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The result, combined with other final-day fixtures, ensured the Benin-based side finished top of the standings with 10 points to claim their second league title in three seasons as a tightly contested Super Six campaign came to a close.
Edo Queens confirmed their position at the summit as Bayelsa Queens entered the final round needing victory to retain their crown, while Nasarawa Amazons were also required to win to keep their own title hopes alive. However, neither side managed to produce the decisive result needed in a tense conclusion to the campaign.
The outcome extends a recent run of changing champions in the NWFL Premiership, with no side successfully defending the title since Rivers Angels in the 2020/2021 season.
Edo Queens will now represent Nigeria at the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifiers, continuing their continental ambitions following their league success. Head coach Moses Aduku further enhanced his reputation with a second league title at the club and a third overall in his career.
Elsewhere on the final day, Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons played out a goalless stalemate, a result that also shaped the final standings, while Abia Angels and FC Robo Queens finished level at 1–1. Winner David put Abia Angels ahead in the first half before Opeyemi Ajakaye struck late for her eighth league goal to secure a share of the points.
FC Robo Queens forward Oluwakemi Adegbugyi was named Player of the Season after scoring 11 goals across the campaign, including three in the Super Six. The Golden Boot was shared between Rivers Angels’ Abasiofon Uwah and Edo Queens’ Atume Doosuur, who both finished with 13 goals, while Abia Angels goalkeeper Fatima Oloko was named Goalkeeper of the Season. Rivers Angels were awarded the Fair Play prize for their discipline throughout the Super Six.
Edo Queens topped the table with 10 points, with Bayelsa Queens finishing second ahead of Nasarawa Amazons on eight points, separated by goal difference. Abia Angels ended on six points, while Rivers Angels edged FC Robo Queens on four points, also on goal difference.
