African champions, Nigeria’s D’Tigress, have named their training camp roster ahead of their historic 2026 WNBA friendlies, www.aclsports.com reports.

Head coach Rena Wakama has assembled a 21-player blend of experienced stars and rising prospects as the team prepares for games against the Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx and Indiana Fever later this month.

The roster features key figures from Nigeria’s dominant run on the continent, including Ezinne Kalu, Promise Amukamara and Victoria Macaulay, alongside a new generation of talent such as Oluchi Okananwa, Stephanie Okechukwu, Uche Izoje and Danielle Osho, all of whom could make their first appearances for the national team.

Nigeria will open their series against the Sparks on 25 April, before facing the Lynx on 27 April and rounding off against the Fever on 2 May.

Some key names are missing from the roster, including captain Amy Okonkwo, who has signed a training camp contract with the Dallas Wings after featuring for them last season. Elizabeth Balogun has also secured a similar deal with the Toronto Tempo, while Murjanatu Musa is also absent. The trio may be tied up with club commitments, although their availability remains uncertain given the nature of training camp contracts.

The friendlies provide D’Tigress with a valuable opportunity to test their depth, integrate new players and fine-tune preparations ahead of the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, scheduled to take place from 4 to 13 September 2026.
