Edo Queens interim coach Kennedy Boboye has praised his players for being coachable after their win over ASEC Mimosas in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifiers, www.aclsports.com reports.
Speaking after the 3-1 victory, Boboye said he was pleased with the players’ ability to follow his instructions and overcome a quality opponent.
“Very proud of them because they really showed that they are players that are coachable in terms of the little things. They really showed their passion and readiness. They gave everything in the game, and I am very proud of their performance,” he said.
Boboye acknowledged ASEC’s quality but said Edo Queens stood their ground, took their chances and showed greater aggression to gain the edge.
“It was a tough one. We were playing against a better team, a quality side for that matter, but we stood our ground and played to what we agreed on doing as a team and took our chances. They were not as aggressive as we were. They were a better team, circulating the ball very well, but we had a purpose and that purpose paid off.”
The result confirmed Edo Queens’ qualification for the semi-finals, with the Nigerian side and Ampem Darkoa Ladies both on six points ahead of their final Group B meeting.
“Before we started in Burkina Faso, the major target was five over five. So, we don’t want to know who we are facing. The most important thing is to play, get our chances, take our chances and win at the end of the game,” Boboye said.
