Clubs representing Nigeria on the continent will begin their respective 2024/2025 CAF InterClub competition journey, as the preliminary round gets underway across Africa this weekend, www.aclsports.com reports.

The quartet of Rangers and Remo Stars (Champions League) and Elkanemi Warriors (Confederation Cup) are Nigeria’s representatives playing in this round. Enyimba, the other representative in the Confederation Cup, have been drawn bye and will play no part in this round.

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Rangers, who will be playing both legs of their tie against Comoros Island champions U.S Zilimadjou in Nigeria, have a relatively easy path into the final qualifying round. Both legs of the fixture will be played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Nigeria’s other representatives in the Champions League, Remo Stars have a date with ASFAR in Ikenne. The Sky Blue Stars faced the Moroccan side two years ago in the CAF Confederation Cup and they were knocked out by the superior North African side on that occasion. ASFAR are expected to arrive in Nigeria on Friday ahead of the crucial encounter on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, in the CAF Confederation Cup, Federation Cup champions Elkanemi Warriors will host Dadje FC of Benin at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. This is a result of CAF’s decision not to approve the Moshood Abiola Stadium for this season’s continental competition.

The return leg of this preliminary round will take place next weekend, with the winner on aggregate progressing to the next stage.
