FIBA release 3×3 World Cup 2018 draws

Nigeria’s D’Tigers have been drawn in Group D of the 5th edition of the FIBA 3×3 World Cup scheduled to take place in Manila, Phillippines.

Nigeria have been grouped alongside Latvia, Ukraine, Croatia and Jordan in Group D.

The 2017 FIBA Africa 3×3 Nations Cup champions are among 40 participating teams (20 men’s and 20 women’s) divided into 8 groups of 5.

Nigeria will compete in the 2018 FIBA 3×3 World Cup from June 8-12, 2018 after being awarded a wild card by the Federation of International Basketball Associations, FIBA in December.

Reigning champions, Serbia are in for a rematch of last year’s World Cup against the Netherlands. Serbia will also face 2014 European Champions Romania in Group A.

The seeding is conducted automatically according to the FIBA 3×3 Federation Ranking of each national federation at the April 1, 2018 cut-off date.

Group A: Serbia (22), Netherlands (3), Romania (9), New Zealand (32), Kyrgyzstan (34)

Group B: Slovenia (19), Poland (17), Estonia (10), Japan (24), Ecuador (70)

Group C: Russia (1), Brazil (14), Mongolia (6), Canada (47), Philippines (52)

Group D: Latvia (13), Ukraine (2), Croatia (81), Jordan(16), Nigeria (56)

Top two teams from each group will progress to the quarter-finals stage
