African Champions, Nigeria Super Falcons have been drawn in Group C for the #TotalEnergiesWACON2022 alongside growing African women’s football power and 2018 runners-up, the Bayana Bayana of South Africa.
Burundi and Botswana make up the other countries in the group at the draws held in Rabat, Morocco.
In other groups, hosts Morocco are up against Burkina Faso, Senegal and Uganda in Group A while Cameroon head Group with Zambia, Tunisia and Togo.
A very tough and seedless qualifying series meant that countries Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt and Algeria miss out.
This tournament will produce Africa’s two teams at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand.

South Africa will fancy their chances following their run in Ghana four years ago and the triumph of their club side Sundowns winning the maiden Women Champions League for the continent last November. Zambia, following a decent showing at the Tokyo Olympic football tournament, hosts Morocco and Cameroon will provide stiff competition and try deny Nigeria a twelfth title.
Tournament runs from 2nd – 23rd of July 2022 in Morocco.
