The chairman Kwara State Table Tennis Association, Shola Owolabi says he has no ambition to run for the President of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation this year.

Owolabi told www.aclsports.com that current President of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, Ishaku Tikon is complimenting on the efforts of the past administration and performing well.

He said, “I am not going to contest this year; it is not in my program. The current President of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, Ishaku Tikon is performing well which I believe I do not have any reason to contest against him”

Owolabi revealed that he purchased upgraded table tennis equipment for Kwara state association for players in the state to get acquitted to it ahead of international tournaments.

He said the previous equipment did not meet the standard of the international body.

He said “Government alone cannot do it alone and I believe that people in the private sector can compliment on government efforts. Active players and the veterans will make use of the equipment and I am optimistic that champions will be made from here again.

“What prompted me to purchase these equipment was that one of our players traveled to Lagos for Police screening. Before he traveled, I had confidence that he would emerge victorious.

“Unfortunately, when I called to make enquiries about the screening, he told me he could not perform well because of the high standard of the table; the bounce of the ball was also different from normal table too. This act made me get new set of Tables that is up to the standard”.
