A new football academy has been launched in Lagos, the southwestern part of Nigeria. Saga Legacy Football Academy is the new brand with the utmost aim of grooming young footballing talents in the country into superstars.
Based in Epe, Lagos State, Saga Legacy Football Academy has started on the right foot, providing youngsters under the age of seventeen with a real footballing nursery that had been missing for some time in the country.
Saga Legacy Football Academy has officially launched its operations at the Eagles Club, Surulere, Lagos, on Friday, November 6, 2026, with the vision to breed the next superstars within Lagos and its environs.
Speaking at the launch, the Chairman and President of the Academy, Mojeed Adegbindin – a seasoned football individual – explained that the academy was created to help nurture players in the right environment while also giving them the right education that will help them adapt quickly in any other football environment.
”This journey started two years ago, but we are finally here,” Adegbindin stated.

”I have been in football for so long, and we have been learning from several other academies before this launch. The idea is to properly groom the players, using the right football philosophy as well as education to prepare them for the future ahead.
”Most importantly, we want to allay the fears of parents who may think that if their children play for us, they will have to abandon their education. They will continue their education while developing their football careers,” he added.
Beyond academics, Adegbindin stressed that the academy aims to cultivate a robust football culture built on technical proficiency, discipline, and strong personal values essential for long-term professional success.
Adegbindin highlighted the deep pool of expertise driving the technical setup, including a coaching staff member (Leke Solomon), who famously captained Lagos State’s gold-winning football team at the 2012 National Sports Festival.

He also acknowledged the vital contributions of his business partner, Paul Kallsen, who is also the chairman of Spinto AB. To train the coaches, Mr. Kallsen has brought in Reidar Vagnes, a veteran football coach, an instructor at 47 UEFA PRO courses. Former coach at Molde, Ålesund, and the Norwegian National youth teams (including the U-15 level). Apart from passing knowledge to the coaches, Mr. Reidar notably played a direct role in the meticulous screening process used to select the academy’s coaching staff.
Some of the dignitaries at the event included Dr. Kweku Tandoh, a former chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission; Former Nigeria internationals like Godwin Okpara, Victor Agali, Friday Ekpo, and many others were equally present at the colourful event.
