Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was on target for Bursaspor in their 1-1 draw against Antalyaspor in the TFF 1. Lig encounter on Friday evening, www.aclsports.com reports.
Despite getting a goal to extend his insane goalscoring form, the former Manchester City man’s latest effort was not enough to steer the Green-Whites to a win, as they eventually settled for a share of the spoils.
Iheanacho, 30, saw his record of scoring in 12 consecutive league matches come to an end after failing to find the back of the net against Bandırmaspor last time out. However, he scored the opener on Friday on their way to another point on the road and in their promotion quest.
Amine Boutrah showcased his pace and skill on the left wing, getting past his marker before picking out Iheanacho’s clever run into the box. The midfielder then played a well-weighted pass into the Nigerian’s path, leaving the forward with the simple task of slotting home from close range.
However, Bursaspor were pegged back just before halftime when Tural Bayramov turned the ball into his own net for Antalyaspor’s goal. The second half produced no further goals, as both teams settled for a share of the spoils, leaving the Green-Whites frustrated after missing out on the maximum three points.
Despite the setback, Bursaspor are still top of the log with 32 points but could lose that should Kayserispor win their fixture on Sunday.
Meanwhile, with the goal on Friday night, Iheanacho took his season tally to 17 goals in 14 league appearances for the Pride of Bursa, while also contributing three assists along the way.
With Victor Osimhen set to miss the AFCON qualifiers, Eric Chelle might be looking towards the direction of the former Sevilla man.
