Former Nigeria U20 women’s player, Sandra Godwin explained that Defenders Babes Handball Club reshaped her nose diving career.

Godwin told www.aclsports.com that leaving Kada Queens for Defenders Babes was her best decision despite being a difficult one.

She revealed that her target in 2023 is to help her team record an unbeaten run and break into the National Senior women’s team.

Godwin said, “Leaving Kada Queen for Defenders Babes was the best decision I have taken since I began handball and I do not regret it. I would have not featured at the 2022 Prudent Energy Handball League if I had stuck with Kada Queens because they were absent; it was a very different one for me but it paid off.

“Defenders Babes has helped reshape and revive my playing career because as a former National U20 player, I need more playing time to prove myself. The move was made easy through my Coach, Solomon Yola who helped me make the right decision, since then it has been a win win for me.

“In 2023, by the grace of God I will work much harder with my teammates and Defenders Babes will be unbeaten. We have what it takes to become champions of the league this season.”

“I am looking forward to breaking into the National Senior women’s team because I have what it takes to be in the squad. I have represented Nigeria once in the junior category and I am working hard to play on the senior team; all I need is an opportunity to prove myself,” she added.

The former Edo Dynamos player expressed joy over winning the Gold medal with Team Oyo at the 2022 National Sports Festival in Delta State.

She said, “I am so happy winning the Gold medal at the 2022 National Sports Festival because it is a dream come true for me. I did not only win the gold medal at the 2022 National Sports Festival, I also emerged champions at the 2022 North Central Handball Championship in Benue state as well as finishing second position at the 2022 Prudent Energy Handball League “.
