Nigeria female handball U18 players depart for Cote d’Ivoire

The Nigeria female handball team will depart the shores of the country for the 2018 African under 18 championship in Cote d’Ivoire.

The championship is slated for Yamoussoukro in Cote D’Ivoire from the 25th to 31st August, 2018. The Nigerian national handball team was camped at the Package B of the Abuja National stadium.

According to the Secretary General of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, Haruna Maigidasanma expressed optimism that the girls will not disappoint the country.

Maigidasanma noted that he is confident that the girls will perform beyond expectations.

“I am sure they will do well and will not disappoint Nigeria. We should expect nothing but the trophy”.

“Their male counterparts won the cadet continental trophy in Kigali. The male U-18 national handball male team beat Guinea while the junior team defeated Congo in two different finals to emerge champions.”

Nigeria female team is paired alongside Benin Republic and Sierra Leone in group A, while Hosts Cote D’Ivoire, Guinea and Togo are in group B of the tournament in the Group B of the 2018 African under 18 championship.
