African champions Nigeria’s D’Tigress will take on China in the third game of their exhibition series on Wednesday, August 12, as they continue preparations for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Nanhai Sports Center Gymnasium will host the final fixture of Nigeria’s China tour, with D’Tigress looking to end the three-game series on a positive note after two narrow defeats in Haikou.
China claimed a 70–67 victory in the opening encounter before taking the second game 69–65, leaving Nigeria still searching for a win against the hosts heading into Wednesday’s contest.
For Rena Wakama, the games have provided an important test for her squad as the head coach continues to fine-tune the team ahead of the World Cup.
Nigeria will leave China after Wednesday’s fixture and continue their build-up in Spain, where Tenerife will host games against Spain and Belgium from August 15 to 24.
The team will then head to Zaragoza for further matches against Mali and Puerto Rico between August 25 and September 3.
D’Tigress will enter the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Group B alongside France, Hungary and Korea Republic.
Nigeria’s campaign begins against Korea Republic on September 4, followed by a meeting with Hungary on September 5 before they face France in their final group game on September 7.
