The head coach of Safety Spikers VC, Sami Dogonyaro told www.aclsports.com that his side will fight for every point at the final phase of the 2024 National Division 1 League coming up by October 10th.

The 2024 National Division 1 Volleyball League (final phase) is scheduled for 10th to 20th October at the Umuahia Township Stadium in Abia State.

Dogonyaro revealed that poor preparations contributed to the club’s poor run during the first phase, occupying the seventh position.

The former Niger Brass player said his team is better coordinated and prepared for the challenges of the final phase.

He said, “The team is well prepared for the second phase of division 1. As it stands now I will not dream of winning the league, but we will do our best to pick maximum points to at least remain in the final phase of Division 1. If Safety Spikers does not gain promotion to the Premier League, it will be on record that we did not go down without a good fight because it will be a fight to finish.

“Safety Spikers finished 7th in the first phase of the Division 1 league because of poor preparation. We had about 7 new players that we signed from other clubs, so there was no proper coordination between the players because we didn’t train together as a team. That is the reason for the poor outing in the first phase. And you know that Division 1 is not a child’s play”.

The former Zamfara United VC player charged his players to be disciplined on and off the court during the league.

He said, “The players know that they are representing an elite corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps, so my charge to them is to put in their best and be disciplined in and out of the court so that Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed (MNI), the management team, and the entire staff of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) will be proud of them”.
